Platform extension at Hanborough

Network Rail have announced plans for platform extensions along the Cotswold Line due to start taking place from November at stations including Charlbury, Evesham, Hanborough and Moreton-in-Marsh.

This will mean that Great Western Railway (GWR) who operate along the Cotswold Line will be able to open more doors on their ten carriage trains. These improvements will help to make it easier for customers to get on and off the new trains and help to improve reliability with the service.

County Councillor Liam Walker, who represents Long Hanborough said "These improvements are long overdue at Hanborough Station. Lots of commuters and visitors will be aware of the challenge of ensuring you are on the right carriage where the doors will open at Hanborough. The extension to the platform is another step in improvements that will be coming to the station in the years to come.

"The County Council will continue to work with Network Rail, GWR and the Government on pushing for improvements to this station and the Cotswold Line."

Full details of the planned works and the impact on services during the work are on a dedicated page on the GWR website or by clicking here.

Network Rail have said they will work as quickly as possible to complete the lengthening of these key platforms along the Cotswold Line.
