Councillor has sights set on District seat

A County Councillor in West Oxfordshire has announced his intentions to run for a District Council seat in the upcoming elections in May.

Liam Walker, who represents the Hanborough & Minster Lovell division at Oxfordshire County Council, has put himself forward for the Hailey, Minster Lovell and Leafield ward on West Oxfordshire District Council.

The seat is currently held by Conservative councillor Gill Hill who is standing down from the District Council this May leaving the seat vacant.

Cllr Walker said, "I'm really pleased to be standing for election in a part of West Oxfordshire which really holds a special place in my heart as I grew up in Minster Lovell. I've had the pleasure of representing this ward as the county councillor since 2017 and I think I have proved over the years that I work hard and I get things done."

In the last election for the ward only the Conservatives and Liberal Democrat's put forward a candidate.

Residents who are registered to vote will go to the polls on Thursday 4th May with 16 seats up for election on West Oxfordshire District Council. The council is currently run by a coalition of Liberal Democrat, Labour and Green councillors.
